THE ARTIST HEINER FRAUENDORFER

1930
Heinrich Frauendorfer is born in Rome on July 9 as the third child of Sigmund and Irmgard von Frauendorfer. His father is a University Professor, expert in agronomy and librarian. The Grandmother, Helene Frauendorfer-Mühltaler (1853-1933) was a prominent portrait painter in Munich. Sisters: Barbara (1926-2020), Brigitte (1929-2020)
1941 - 1950
During the war the family has to move to Austria where the mother´s family owns a farm in Gallspach/Upper Austria. High school graduation in Wels. A traumatic knee injury at the age of 11 keeps his leg stiff for life.
1950 - 1954
Frauendorfer moves to Vienna and studies at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences and the University of Economics and Business.
1952 - 1955
Interaction with the Art Club Vienna and members of the Vienna School of Fantastic Realism. Close contact with Arnulf Rainer, Johann Fruhmann, Rudolf Hausner.
Studies of abstract painting in Paris, student of Albert Gleizes
Travel to India, Persia, Turkey, Egypt, etc.
Ending of informal expression in his paintings
1955 - 1995
Management career at Odol Werke Vienna, Preussag AG Germany, Martini&Rossi AG Austria and Germany. Foundation and divestiture of Media Observer, a market research company.
1964
Marriage with Susanne Frauendorfer (born Lovrek), two children Paul (*1965), Caroline (*1970).
1978 - 2019
Continuation of his artistic career in dedication to realism (first landscapes and architecture, later people and portraits)
Since 1989 “Suppan Fine Arts “, a leading Viennese gallery of 20th century and contemporary artists, is taking care of the oeuvre of Heinrich Frauendorfer. Various local and international exhibitions. Publication of “heiner frauendorfer – architektur-landschaft-mensch” in 2006.
2021
Heiner Frauendorfer dies peacefully on May 17 at the age of 90 in Vienna.
